A brave giraffe mum desperately tried to defend her calf from a lion attack by kicking the predators.
Joel Kitipo was leading a tour through Maasai Mara, Kenya, on February 8 when he spotted a two-week-old giraffe in danger.
Dramatic footage captured the moment one lion brought the calf down, forcing the mother to kick out at the big cat to try and chase it off.
Despite kicking out multiple times, the numbers game finally overcame the giraffes as the mum realised she couldn’t fight them off.
“The giraffe mum was extremely brave when faced by overwhelming odds.”

Joel said: “It was very emotional to watch. The giraffe mum was extremely brave when faced by overwhelming odds.
“The hunt carried on for 30 minutes and she stood her ground while trying desperately to defend her new baby.
“Eventually the numbers overwhelmed her and her calf, just showing how raw and unforgiving nature can be.”
