LEOPARD MUM AND CUB OUTWIT HYENA TO REGAIN CARCASS STOLEN FROM THEM EARLIER

1–2 minutes

A leopard mum and cub managed to outwit a hyena to regain a carcass that had been stolen from them.

Yousuf Musa was leading a tour through Mopani Safari Lodge, Zambia, on September 12 when he spotted a battle between two eternal foes.

Dramatic footage shows one leopard clash head on with a spotted hyena which had stolen an impala kill they had earlier made.

While the two animals fought ferociously, the leopard’s cub snuck in and grabbed a chunk of the carcass and crept away with the food.

Yousuf said: “This leopard had made a kill and was robbed by a spotted hyena, which is not too unusual, but this leopard wasn’t too keen on letting it go.

“She came back at the hyena and tried her best, which worked to a point as the sneaky cameo at the end shows.”
