This is the incredible moment a group of catfish ‘walked’ on land in a nighttime search for food.

Footage captured on an Africam live camera at Naledi Bush Lodge, South Africa, on January 13 showed some fish on a truly unusual jaunt.

Incredible footage captured the African sharptooth catfish make their way out of the water and slither across the ground.

The catfish used their spiny pectoral fins to take advantage of recent flooding making the ground wetter for them to move much easier.

“It’s not a regular thing to see. It’s more common to see them do this when the waterholes dry up.

A spokesperson for Africam said: “They were coming in and out for about 20 minutes, most probably searching for things to eat.

“It’s not a regular thing to see. It’s more common to see them do this when the waterholes dry up.

“But now we are having flooding in the area so they may feel safer to explore and move due to the overflow.

“It’s always interesting to see something so unusual.”
