This is the incredible moment a lioness hunted an impala right next to a tourist’s car.
Brand van Niekirk was visiting Kruger National Park, South Africa, with his partner when they spotted a lion and three cubs walking alongside the road.
Amazing footage shows the alert lioness stop at the side of the road while it watched a nearby herd of impala closely.
Suddenly the lion ran across the front of Brand’s car and up a nearby bank to catch the unlucky impala before walking off with it in its mouth.
“It was so unexpected as we weren’t aware that they were targeting the impala, as we only saw them when the lions attacked.”

“It was the most exciting experience. A fabulous end to an uneventful day. We were lucky to be in the right place at the right time.
“The lioness came within 1metre of the car. It was so unexpected as we weren’t aware that they were targeting the impala, as we only saw them when the lions attacked.
“We had already exited the main gate and had given up looking for more game.”
